MOSCOW, May 13. /TASS/. The Russian Knights and Strizhi aerobatics groups first began performing a complex of aerobatics in the Cuban Diamond formation with the participation of five Su-35S fighters. This was reported by TASS on Thursday, the commander of the "Russian Knights" Sergei Shcheglov.
"When performing the construction of the" Cuban Diamond "together with the" Strizhami", instead of the Su-30SM fighters, the Su-35S will now stand, " Shcheglov said.
He noted that the pilots have already conducted training in such a composition and plan to demonstrate for the first time the performance using new aircraft at the aviation festival dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the two aerobatic groups in Kubinka on May 15.
According to Shcheglov, the "Russian Knights" have made other small changes to their program. "The program will be slightly updated. We are constantly changing something, " said the commander of the aerobatic flight group.
On May 15, in Kubinka, "Russian Knights "and" Swifts " will show a large-scale air show in honor of the 30th anniversary of the creation of both groups. The airshow will be attended by the aerobatic groups "First Flight", "Reactors", "Golden Eagles" and the seven-time absolute world champion in the women's competition in aeroplane sports Svetlana Kapanina.
Su-35S
In June 2020, it was reported that the Russian Knights aerobatic team had completed rearmament with the Su-35S. Four new aircraft were relocated from the manufacturer's factory to the air group's deployment point in Kubinka, near Moscow. For the first time, Su-35S joined the group in November 2019.
The Russian multi-purpose super-maneuverable fighter of the 4++ generation Su-35 is equipped with an onboard radar station with a phased array antenna, as well as engines with a controlled thrust vector. It can reach speeds of up to 2.5 thousand km / h, its flight range reaches 3.4 thousand km. The fighter is armed with a 30 mm cannon and has 12 suspension points for bombs and missiles.
