The frigate of the Northern Fleet "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" after participating in the celebration of Victory Day in Murmansk left for Severodvinsk.
"During the passage through the Barents and White Seas, the crew improves their naval training," the press service of the Northern Fleet said.
In Severodvinsk, the ship will take part in the final stage of testing a promising missile weapon. The military does not specify the type of weapon, but since 2020, the Admiral Gorshkov has been a platform for test launches of the Zircon hypersonic missile. At the beginning of the summer of this year, several more surface launches are planned, including a salvo launch. The missiles will be fired at intervals of a few seconds.
In the second half of the year, the "Zircon" will be fired from the submarine carrier, the SUBMARINE "Severozhvinsk". By the end of the year, the missile tests are planned to be completed.
