Rostec has launched the production of the latest domestic material for spacecraft

The innovative foam "Akrimid" is used in the production of space, aviation and land equipment, the state corporation said

MOSCOW, May 13. /TASS/. Innovative foam plastic "Akrimid", used in the production of space, aviation and land equipment, began to be mass-produced in Russia. It replaced imported materials, the press service of the state corporation Rostec told TASS.

"The volume of output has now reached about one ton per quarter. The material is supplied to 35 domestic enterprises of instrument-making, mechanical engineering, aviation, and space industries, " the state corporation said.

Innovative foam is developed and mass-produced in the Research Institute of Polymers (part of the holding in the chemical industry of the State Corporation "Rostec", the parent organization of the holding-ONPP "Technology" named after A. G. Romashin).

Sheet structural foam, produced under the brand name "Akrimid", has high heat resistance and strength parameters, as well as resistance to chemical influences. The material is used as a light filler in the manufacture of multilayer parts made of fiberglass and carbon fiber, the inner skin and power elements of aircraft, helicopters, engine fairings, body elements of unmanned vehicles. The material can be used in the construction of hull and deck elements of shipbuilding, in the construction of radar equipment, as well as in products and structures of defense industry equipment.

The material is used in products of Roscosmos, USC, United Aircraft Corporation, KRET, High-Precision Complexes, Roselektronika and KTRV.
