The Su-30 fighter intercepted three aircraft of the French Air Force over the neutral waters of the Black Sea. This was reported in the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet of the press service of the Southern Military District. They said that air targets approaching the State Border of the Russian Federation were detected by Russian air space control systems.
To identify the targets and prevent the violation of the border, a Su-30 fighter was lifted into the air from the air defense duty of the forces of the joint Air Force and air defense of the Southern Military District.
The Russian pilots identified the targets as two Mirage 2000 tactical aircraft and one French Air Force C-135 tanker aircraft. The planes were escorted over the Black Sea.
The flight of the Russian aircraft took place in accordance with the international rules for the use of airspace. There was no violation of the Russian border.
