The small amphibious assault ships "Yevgeny Kocheshkov" and "Mordovia" of the Baltic Fleet performed the task of transferring marines with a landing on the Baltic Sea coast during a planned exercise.
In the course of working out the planned tasks of combat training, the crews of the MDKVP carried out a marine landing on the unequipped coast. The landing involved a unit of the marine assault company of the Baltic Fleet on ten armored personnel carriers BTR-82A.
During the transition to the landing site, the specialists of the missile and artillery combat units of the ships conducted artillery firing at surface and air targets. The shooting was carried out from 30-mm automatic installations of the AK-630 complex.
In addition, exercises were held to combat survivability, radiation, chemical and biological protection of ships at sea.
"Yevgeny Kocheshkov" and the similar MDKVP "Mordovia" are the world's largest amphibious assault ships and are in service with the Baltic Fleet. MDKVP "Evgeny Kocheshkov "and" Mordovia " of the project 12322 "Zubr" are intended for reception from the equipped or unequipped coast of the marine landing with military equipment, transportation by sea, landing on the coast of the enemy and fire support of the landing troops, the press service of the ZVO notes.
