Two tactical groups of ships of the Pacific Fleet, as part of a control check for the winter training period, conducted exercises in the Sea of Japan.
The naval strike groups, which included the flagship of the Order of Nakhimov, the Guards Missile Cruiser Varyag, the modernized frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, and the corvettes Perfect and Loud, jointly solved complex tasks of destroying naval air and coastal targets with artillery fire.
In the Gulf of Peter the Great, the KUG worked out the organization of anti-aircraft defense of detachments and performed artillery firing at air targets. At the same time, the actions of the forces were controlled from the main command post of the compound.
Later, in the area of the training ground on the island of Zheltukhin, the ships successfully suppressed invisible coastal targets hidden by the terrain with artillery fire. Another joint shooting was carried out on a large artillery towed shield, simulating a surface ship of a simulated enemy.
The frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" and the corvettes hit targets with the fire of the new 100-mm universal naval artillery installations A-190, the GRKR "Varyag" fired from the 130-mm artillery installation AK-130. The ships also used AK-630 six-barrel 30-mm automatic artillery systems to destroy mock-ups of sea mines.
On April 7, the frigate of the Pacific Fleet "Marshal Shaposhnikov" in the waters of the Sea of Japan successfully destroyed a surface target with a Kalibr cruise missile. It is noted that the missile covered about 100 km and hit a special sea shield that imitated the ship.
