The flagship aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy (Navy) of the United Kingdom HMS Queen Elizabeth worth about 3.2 billion pounds (more than 300 billion rubles) again leaked. This was announced on Thursday, April 15, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the publication, the incident occurred in March this year during the ship's passage from Portsmouth to Scotland. On the aircraft carrier, a pipe burst, causing it to be flooded with salt water. As specified by the source of the Daily Mail, we are talking about a break in the pipe of the ship's fire main, which occurred despite the fact that recently the fire extinguishing system on the Queen Elizabeth was upgraded to the amount of 5.5 million pounds. The modernization had to be carried out after the aircraft carrier faced the same problem in 2019.
It is noted that the leak was quickly eliminated. It is also known that the incident did not affect the future plans of the aircraft carrier: in May, it should go on its first world voyage. In the course of it, the ship will pass through the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal, and then head to the Indian Ocean. As part of the voyage, Queen Elizabeth is expected to make a brief stop in Singapore before taking part in joint exercises with Japan and the United States in the region.
The aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth first sailed on 26 June 2017. The ship has a displacement of 70,6 thousand tons, its length is 282,9 meters, width-75 meters. Its deck can accommodate up to 40 aircraft. At the same time, in December 2017 , a leak was recorded on it . Later, similar problems were identified on another newest British aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, which was commissioned in 2019.
