Russian marines in the framework of the exercise broke through the defense of the imaginary enemy and landed on the unequipped coast in Kamchatka, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday, April 9.
The footage, provided by the military department, shows how the Marine infantry battalions disembark from the landing ships "Peresvet" and "Oslyabya"and" Admiral Nevelskoy".
The combat swimmers, supported by Ka-29 and Mi-8AMTSh helicopters, managed to clear mines and capture the coastal strip before the main forces arrived. Tactical groups on high-speed watercraft were also involved.
"The uniqueness of the exercise was that simultaneously with the training of actions on the coast, the amphibious assault battalion of the marine brigade for the first time in full strength carried out a parachute landing from four An-12 and An-26 aircraft," the Defense Ministry explained.
The planes provided the landing of 600 paratroopers on an unfamiliar site, and then the Marines worked out tactical actions to capture and hold the line.
The exercise involved about 1,400 military personnel and more than 250 pieces of equipment.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, announced that the Armed Forces have begun control checks for the winter training period, which will include more than four thousand tactical, tactical-special and bilateral exercises. It was reported that in April it is planned to hold more than 4 thousand exercises of various scales, of which 812 are bilateral, at 101 training grounds and 520 objects of the training and material base.
