During the tests, the upgraded frigate of the Pacific Fleet "Marshal Shaposhnikov" conducted artillery fire from the waters of the Sea of Japan at coastal targets - including invisible ones.
- In the area of Zheltukhin Island, the ship performed an exercise to suppress coastal targets: visible and invisible, hidden by the terrain. In the latter case, Orlan-10 drones were used to guide, adjust the fire and evaluate the results, " Nikolai Voskresensky, the head of the press service of the Pacific Fleet, told RIA Novosti.
The frigate fired at the targets, which depicted firing points and a cluster of military equipment, from a new universal artillery installation A-190 caliber of 100 millimeters.
"Marshal Shaposhnikov" - the first of the Soviet BOD project 1155, which has been upgraded with retraining in the frigate. The ship is equipped with launchers of cruise missiles "Uranus", "Kalibr", "Onyx", and in the future - "Zircon", an electronic warfare system, a new radar and fire control system, navigation and communication tools, as well as an artillery installation of the main caliber A-190 in a stealth tower.
In addition to the initially extensive capabilities for detecting and destroying submarines, the frigate was able to effectively deal with surface and coastal targets. The return of the ship to the fleet is planned for May 2021. Its place in the dock "Dalzavod" will take the same type of BOD "Admiral Vinogradov".
