MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The special-purpose nuclear submarine "Belgorod" of Project 09852 will serve in the Pacific Ocean after the completion of state tests and transfer to the Russian Navy. This was reported to TASS by a source close to the military department.
"According to preliminary information, the submarine "Belgorod" after the transfer to the customer will serve in the Pacific Ocean, while it will be able to solve its tasks anywhere in the world Ocean, " he said.
TASS does not have a comment from the press service of Sevmash (the company where Belgorod is being built is part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) in this regard.
Earlier, a source told TASS that the state tests of the submarine "Belgorod" will begin in May this year. Another TASS source reported that in addition to the Poseidon nuclear unmanned underwater vehicles, the special-purpose submarine will be able to carry the AS-15 nuclear deep-water station.
The first carrier of nuclear underwater drones "Poseidon" - the submarine of the project 09852" Belgorod " - was launched on April 23, 2019. Initially, the submarine was planned to be transferred to the fleet in 2020. According to available data, this did not happen due to the incomplete testing program, including those related to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the current state armament program, it is planned to build three special-purpose submarines by 2027.
