TSAMTO, April 5. The VK-650V engine, created by the United Engine Corporation of Rostec for the Ka-226T helicopter, confirmed a number of characteristics laid down in the technical specification following the results of the first tests of the demonstrator.
UEC-Klimov will produce three prototypes of the engine by the end of the year.
"The next stage of work on the VK-650V has been successfully completed, the demonstrator engine consistently confirms the characteristics laid down in the technical task. The current design results prove the competitiveness of the power plant being created. The next stage will be the production of prototypes of the VK-650V and their testing, working with the digital double of the product, " the Rostec aviation cluster said.
Further work on the VK-650V will be carried out within the framework of the program, which includes several projects, including the modification of the power plant for other helicopters, the organization of mass production, and the development of an after-sales service system.
"The program will include a development project for the VK-650V for the Ka-226, a modification for the Ansat-U, a project for putting the engine into mass production, and work on organizing after – sales service and maintenance," said Yuri Shmotin, General Designer of UEC JSC.
The VK-650V engine, developed by UEC-Klimov JSC, has a take-off power of 650 hp and is intended for use in Russian Ka-226T light class helicopters. It is also possible to install its modifications on the Ansat-U, VRT-500 and foreign helicopters of the same class of payload capacity.
