It is planned to complete the test cycle of the special-purpose nuclear submarine "Belgorod" by September.
- The boat has a reactor running, mooring tests are underway. Then there will be factory and state ones. By September, Belgorod should complete the entire test cycle, " a source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti.
The K-329 Belgorod nuclear submarine is the only representative of the project 09852, the carrier of the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicles. The ship was laid down as an Antey-class attack submarine, but was being completed according to a new project. A new compartment was cut into the cruiser's hull, thanks to them, the Belgorod became the longest submarine in the world - 184 meters, underwater displacement of 30 thousand tons. For comparison, the length of the nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Peter the Great" is 230 meters, with a displacement of 26 thousand tons.
Official information about the ship is extremely scarce - it is known that K-329 was launched in April 2019. At the ceremony, the boat's propellers were carefully sheathed - according to open sources, their unusual design provides the Belgorod with exceptional low noise. The ship will be armed with nuclear-powered Poseidon-class intercontinental torpedoes.
The 20-meter drone with a nuclear power plant is capable of diving to a depth of 1000 meters and moving at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour. This speed is achieved thanks to "air lubrication": part of the steam from the turbine in the form of bubbles surrounds the body, reducing the water resistance. According to experts, the Poseidon reactor uses liquid metal as a coolant. It allows you to install silent magnetic pumps in the first circuit and provides a quick set of power when switching from" stealthy mode " to high-speed. The range of the drone is not limited.
The Belgorod submarine will be able to carry six Poseidons. During the state tests, the ship and the torpedoes will be tested together. The second drone carrier, the project 09851 Khabarovsk submarine, is also being built at Sevmash.
