MOSCOW, 1 Apr-RIA Novosti. Armed with Kalibr cruise missiles, the Project 22350 frigate Admiral Kasatonov left Gibraltar on Thursday for the Atlantic Ocean, where it will conduct a series of ship exercises, the press service of the Northern Fleet told reporters.
"The frigate of the Northern Fleet" Admiral Kasatonov " has completed the tasks of its first long-range cruise in the Mediterranean Sea and entered the Atlantic Ocean. Today, it passed through the Strait of Gibraltar in a westerly direction, accompanied by the rescue tug "Nikolai Chiker" and the medium sea tanker "Vyazma", the press service said.
They specified that in the Atlantic Ocean, the crew of the frigate will continue to improve naval training and conduct a number of ship exercises. After completing all tasks, the ship will make the transition to the main base of the Northern Fleet – Severomorsk.
Earlier, the press service noted, the ship's crew worked out anti-submarine tasks using the Ka-27PL helicopter and replenished fuel reserves from the tanker.
During the campaign, which began on December 30 last year, the frigate has already passed about 17 thousand nautical miles and visited the ports of Algeria, Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, Syria and Turkey.
