The amphibious boat of the A25PS project, built by order of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia, entered service with the Crimean unit and will guard the shallow bays of Sivash, Karkinitsky and Perekopsky. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Sevastopol.
The hovercraft is ideal for protecting the state border in the north of the peninsula. It can move freely over land, shallow water, swampy terrain, reed beds, and frozen bodies of water, reaching speeds of more than 50 knots. The ship's crew will consist of 12 people, who also have two ATVs at their disposal.
"Hovercraft in the north of Crimea will monitor compliance with the rules of border legislation, pursue high-speed small boats, conduct search and rescue operations, as well as deliver military personnel and cargo to hard - to-reach areas, "the press service explained to RG.
In a troubled section of the border, it is important that the boat has bulletproof armor and a large-caliber 12.7 mm machine gun, which can be useful in the event of security threats or an attempt on the territorial integrity of Russia.
