INTERFAX-FAR EAST-Large-scale tactical exercises with military personnel of motorized rifle, tank and artillery formations of the combined arms Army of the Eastern Military District (VVO) ended with large-scale live firing at the Sergeyevsky training ground in Primorye, the press service of the VVO reported on Monday.
According to the plan of the exercise, one unit acted as a" conditional enemy " leading the offensive, and the other was on the defensive.
The tactical exercises lasted for several days, involving about 1.5 thousand military personnel, and involved more than 300 units of military equipment.
"In the course of combat shooting, reconnaissance and strike complexes were widely used. At the same time, the calculations of the Uragan multiple launch rocket systems at distances of about 25 km with the help of Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles were given the coordinates of the command posts of the brigades of the conditional enemy, which made it possible to paralyze the actions of the "enemy" in the minimum time intervals, "the report says.
Fire strikes were inflicted on the imaginary enemy with 240-mm self-propelled mortars "Tulip". The exercises used reconnaissance systems "Strelet", self-propelled artillery installations "Acacia", self-propelled guns "Msta-S" and "Hyacinth-S", as well as MLRS" Grad", which destroyed targets that imitate armored vehicles and manpower of the imaginary enemy, the report says.
In addition, the tasks of conducting maneuverable defense were worked out, the offensive of the "enemy"was stopped. During the training battle, about a dozen Ka-52 Alligator army aviation helicopters provided air support.
