On March 15, 2021, the Express-80 communication and broadcasting satellite was put into operation as part of the FSUE Kosmicheskaya Svyaz orbital group (SE KS) at the position of 80° V. D. Flight tests of the Express-80 spacecraft were carried out in full and with positive results.
The Express-80 satellite is designed to provide fixed and mobile communication services; digital TV and radio broadcasting; high-speed Internet access, as well as data transmission in the Russian Federation and abroad.
"The orbital location of the Express-80 spacecraft at 80° VD above the very center of Russia allows us to provide users with modern and reliable communication and broadcasting services almost anywhere in our country," said Yuri Prokhorov, Acting General Director of the State Enterprise of the Russian Federation. – With the launch of the new satellite, we offer the market fundamentally new products that are most in demand on the market today: packet digital broadcasting, Internet access in air and sea transport, distance education and telemedicine."
The Express-80 spacecraft was launched into geostationary orbit from the Baikonur cosmodrome on July 31, 2020. The satellite was manufactured by the leading Russian enterprise of the rocket and space industry-JSC "Information Satellite Systems" named after Academician M. F. Reshetnev" together with the European company Thales Alenia Space. The active life of the Express-80 spacecraft is 15 years.
