Two new nuclear-powered submarine missile cruisers of the Borey-A project, Prince Potemkin and Dmitry Donskoy, will be laid on the slipways of Sevmash this year. This was stated in an interview with the newspaper "Red Star" by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
He also said that simultaneously with the construction of the fourth-generation strategic missile carriers, work is underway to create the fifth generation of multi-purpose and strategic nuclear submarines (NPS).
"This task is assigned to designers, scientific organizations and the Military Training and Research Center of the Russian Navy, which provides military and scientific support for the design and construction of ships throughout the entire cycle,"Evmenov said, adding that Russia" keeps pace with, and often outstrips, the world's scientific and technological progress in the field of underwater shipbuilding."
Sevmash has signed a contract for the construction of two new submarines in 2020. In addition, by the end of this year, the plant should transfer to the Navy the strategic missile carrier of the Borey project "Prince Oleg" and the nuclear submarine cruisers of the Yasen project - "Kazan" and "Novosibirsk".
