In the coming years, the naval strategic forces will be equipped with the latest submarines of the project 955 "Borey", the commander of the 31st Division of submarines of the Northern Fleet, Rear Admiral Stepan Kelbas, told Izvestia.

This makes it possible to successfully operate them, despite the fact that they are almost 30 years old. But as the new Project 955 "Borey" cruisers arrive, the ship's personnel will be gradually replaced. We already have the lead ships of the Borey and Borey-A series, Yuri Dolgoruky and Prince Vladimir, in service.
According to Stepan Kelbas, now one of the main tasks of the division is the development of Borey submarines.
"In particular, we have already accepted Prince Vladimir into the team. This is the first nuclear-powered missile cruiser of the new project 955A. All the Boreas accepted into the Navy passed through our division. We received them, conducted tests, and prepared the crews. After that, we transferred some of the boats to the Pacific Fleet. We also did a lot of practical work on the Boreas . In particular, we mastered ice swimming, We can say that all the boats of projects 955 and 955A learned to walk and perform combat tasks in our division, " the commander of the connection said.
