A training battle in the Sea of Japan took place between the ships of the Pacific Fleet.
-In the waters of Peter the Great Bay, the small anti - submarine ship "Rime" and the missile boat "R-297" conducted exercises on the organization of air defense of a single ship and a sea battle with a ship of a conditional enemy, - said the Head of the information support department of the press service of the Eastern Military District for the Pacific Fleet, Captain 2nd rank Nikolay Voskresensky.
The crews performed artillery firing by the gun commanders and preparatory firing on the sea towed shield. In addition, they shot down the parachute targets dropped by the "enemy".
The exercise was assisted by a sea tug and anti-submarine aircraft IL-38 of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet.
The training was held as part of the practical development of the marine elements of the second course task. The small missile ship "Razliv" and the small anti-submarine ship "Ust-Ilimsk" of the water area protection unit of the Troops and forces in the North-East of Russia will enter the training battle next. They will have to fire at surface targets and work out the defense of ships while parked on an unprotected roadstead.
