The Arleigh Burke-class destroyers of the US Navy, based in Spain, have electronic warfare systems (EW) AN / SLQ-62 Portable Electronic Warfare Module-Speed To Fleet (TEWM-STF), capable of "killing" Russian anti-ship missiles P-800 "Onyx", writes The Drive.
The American publication calls these anti-ship missiles one of the most powerful and numerous in Russia. According to The Drive, Russia, in particular, has upgraded P-800 "Onyx" not only in the Mediterranean Sea (Syria), but also in the Black Sea (Crimea).
The publication writes that surface and submarine ships, aircraft and coastal missile systems equipped with such weapons and their analogues can turn the Black Sea into a zone of continuous destruction of anti-ship missiles, " potentially crushing even the protection of the most advanced warships."
In March 2018, The Drive wrote that the US Navy on the destroyer Carney, which then left the Black Sea, tested a new electronic warfare system AN / SLQ-32 (V)6, upgraded as part of the SEWIP (Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program) Block 2. The publication noted that the use of the updated AN/SLQ-32 (V)6 allowed the US military to test their systems in a space dominated by Russian electronic warfare.
