In Kerch, the formation of the hulls of the future universal landing ships "Ivan Rogov" and "Mitrofan Moskalenko"began. Work on domestic helicopter carriers is carried out taking into account the experience gained in the construction of ships of the Mistral type.
According to TASS, the landing ships of the project 23900, which are being built at the Gulf shipyard, will have a displacement of 30 thousand tons and will be able to carry 16 helicopters.
The wing will be presented amphibious helicopters Ka-29, anti-submarine Ka-27 helicopters of AEW Ka-31 and percussion Ka-52K "Katran" the anti-ship missile Kh-35. The helicopter carriers will also be based on four drones for various purposes.
Another advantage of the future universal landing ships is the ability to transport a large number of equipment - 75 vehicles, six auxiliary vessels and marines-up to 1000 people.
Helicopter carriers will also be able to solve anti-submarine and mine defense tasks, as well as take part in humanitarian missions - in the form of a floating hospital.
As previously noted by military analysts of the publication The Drive, in the long term, the new amphibious assault ships of Russia will be "a valuable addition to its maritime capabilities."
