The crews of the Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopters were searching for an "enemy" submarine in the Barents Sea. In her role was one of the submarines of the Northern Fleet.
During the flights, the military pilots worked out tactical techniques for searching and tracking the submarine, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported. They used radio and hydroacoustic means to detect objects under water. The servicemen acted in difficult weather conditions, when the wind speed reached 25 meters per second, a blizzard was blowing. Eight Ka-27 helicopters were involved in the exercise.
Ka-27-anti-submarine helicopter. Able to perform combat missions at any time of the day, in different climatic conditions, even with a sea wave of five points. The anti-submarine helicopter is armed with a high-precision autopilot, which allows you to hover over a given point for a long time, which is necessary when launching a sonar station. The Ka-27 sighting and search system detects a submarine, determines its coordinates, movement parameters, and makes recommendations for the use of weapons.
