The Chelyabinsk company, which produces electric vehicles, has improved the characteristics of its Hunter combat module with a new version of the machine gun. The efficiency of hitting the target has become higher by 20-30 percent. This was stated by the manufacturer of the combat system after the tests ended at the test site in Nizhny Tagil.
- We have been working with the Degtyarev plant for a long time, - says Sergey Abramov, Deputy Chief Designer for Control Systems. - When we learned about the new machine gun, created specifically for robotic systems, we decided to use it for our remote-controlled module. It increases the competitiveness of the "Hunter", puts it on a par with the world leaders.
In the near future, the Chelyabinsk company plans to deliver a batch of combat modules with a new machine gun to equip the Typhoon-K vehicles. Deliveries in the same configuration will be carried out for the needs of the Navy.
The history of the "Hunter" has been counted at the plant since 2017. Today it is a mass-produced product. The remote-controlled module is capable of hitting moving targets at a distance of more than a kilometer. The TV sight detects the target at a distance of up to 5000 meters, and the thermal imager sees it at a distance of up to 2.5 thousand meters. In addition, a laser rangefinder is used for reconnaissance and surveillance of the enemy.
The premiere of the basic model of the Hunter took place at the Army-2018 forum, but later gunsmiths developed several modifications, including for the floating armored personnel carrier of the Kurgan Machine plant. Chelyabinsk began to arm the amphibian, since their product met the requirements of the customer, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, to a greater extent than the samples of competitors. According to Sergey Abramov, after completion, it was possible to increase the angle of inclination of the machine gun down from 8 to 14 degrees, which allows you to fire at targets on the slopes of the hills.
The next step was the creation of a marine modification of the module-for light boats with a displacement of up to 20 tons, this version was called "Narwhal". It is also a remote-controlled installation with a large-caliber machine gun "Cord", a sighting day camera, automatic target tracking, thermal imager, rangefinder, all-round vision systems, protection against high-precision weapons. In this version, however, the roll angles and the impact of the wave are also taken into account.
- The development differs from other analogs in a high degree of localization of production,-emphasizes the head of the Bureau of scientific and Technical Development of the Chelyabinsk manufacturing plant Konstantin Davydov.
Initially, the Narwhal was intended only for the Russian customer, but, as it turned out, there is also interest in it abroad. For example, the Indian military, who saw it at an international exhibition, now assess how to use the module in their projects.
