Two serial diesel-electric submarines of the fourth generation of the project 677 "Lada" — "Kronshtadt" and "Velikiye Luki" — will receive the Russian Navy in 2022, the general director of JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" Alexander Buzakov said on February 9.
The submarines are the second and third in the 677 project. The first in the project was the submarine "St. Petersburg — - it was transferred to the fleet for trial operation in 2010.
"The second, Kronstadt, is already afloat, and the third, Velikiye Luki, will be launched in 2022. "Kronshtadt" was somewhat delayed due to problems with counterparties. But we plan to transfer both boats to the fleet in 2022, " Buzakov told RIA Novosti.
In September last year, the head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Alexey Rakhmanov, reported a backlog in the construction of two diesel-electric submarines of the fourth generation of the project 677 "Lada" due to problems with one of the equipment suppliers.
In this connection, it was decided to build for the Pacific Fleet six time-tested submarines of the project 636 "Varshavyanka" instead of the boats of the project "Lada".
The first submarine of the Lada project, the Saint Petersburg, was laid down in 1997 and launched in 2004. The submarine completed the tests and entered pilot operation in 2010.
Project 677 submarines (code "Lada") — a series of Russian diesel-electric submarines developed in the Central Design Bureau "Rubin".
The series is a development of project 877 "Halibut". Submarines are designed to destroy submarines, surface ships and enemy vessels, protect naval bases, the sea coast and sea communications, as well as conduct reconnaissance.
Submarines with a displacement of 1.8 thousand tons are characterized by a low level of noise, can reach speeds of up to 21 knots and dive to a depth of up to 350 m.
