MOSCOW, January 19/ Radio Sputnik. The Russian military for the first time reported on the conduct of network-centric exercises, during which self-propelled artillery installations (ACS) "Msta" were used, equipped with the equipment of a unified control system, RIA Novosti reports.
Network-centric warfare is the deployment of digital control system networks with vertical and horizontal integration of all participants in a military operation. The exercises were conducted by gunners of the Yelninsky motorized Rifle division of the Combined Arms Army.
"Gunners ... for the first time worked the use of mobile division ACS "MTSA-S-M2" unified fire control system in the Bryansk region. The calculations of the Msta-S-M2 self-propelled howitzers used the equipment of the unified tactical control system (ESU TK), installed for data exchange and fire correction in real time," the Western Military District said in a press release following the maneuvers.
The press service also clarified that the new equipment of the ESU TK allows transmitting information from guidance and control devices, due to which the division command can solve tactical and fire tasks in real time.
The adjustment of howitzer fire was carried out using drones and reconnaissance systems, representatives of the military district noted.
In total, about 500 servicemen of the Yelnya Division of the combined Arms Army of the ZVO, as well as about 25 units of weapons, military and special equipment, were involved in the exercises.
The ESU TK equipment was developed by the Constellation Concern (part of the Roselektronika holding of the Rostec State Corporation). Such systems, in addition to the Msta howitzers, are equipped with the new T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks.
