From this year, mass delivery of drones-quadrocopters for the army will begin. Small and light vehicles will help troops in performing combat and everyday tasks. They will complement the 2 thousand aircraft-type drones currently available in parts. Although such products have their drawbacks, they can be very useful in exploration, experts said.
It is noteworthy that until recently, inexpensive commercial UAVs were positioned as weapons of militants. In particular, the extremists used them en masse during the fighting in Syria and Iraq.
Mass delivery of quadrocopters to the troops will begin this year, sources in the military department told Izvestia. UAVs will be equipped with reconnaissance companies and battalions. They plan to use the new equipment not only in combat conditions, but also in everyday activities. With their help, you can, for example, monitor the conduct of classes and the territory of the unit.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, the experiment on the use of small copters in the army has been held since 2019. Most of them were sent to parts of the Eastern Military District (VVO). Also, several sets of products were transferred to other military districts. At the end of last year, the results of the tests were recognized as successful.
During the experiment, it also turned out that the devices have a shorter range and duration of flight, are more vulnerable to the effects of electronic warfare and fire from the ground than those currently in service. At the same time, they can take off and land on any platform and are able to hover over one place for a long time, are easy to manage and affordable.
