Moscow. January 14. INTERFAX-Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko approved a "road map" to improve the system of forest protection from fires, which provides for the use of space and unmanned vehicles, the press service of Abramchenko reports.
"It is planned to launch spacecraft to provide operational all-weather round-the-clock detection of changes in the forest fire situation, as well as receive data from remote sensing spacecraft, including in remote areas," the press service of Abramchenko said in a statement on Thursday.
In 2025, it is planned to monitor man-made and natural emergencies on the basis of the system with the Canopus-V-O spacecraft, the press service notes.
The work on the investigation of crimes related to fires is supposed to be supplemented by the use of long-range unmanned vehicles. They will be equipped with digital equipment for photo and video shooting. To establish the coordinates of the forest fire site, it is planned to use high-precision navigation devices.
The Deputy Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation to approve the methodology for calculating damage from forest fires.
The press service reports that in 2021 it is planned to create an interregional forest fire center "North", the work of which will be aimed at extinguishing fires in hard-to-reach and remote areas. 5 billion rubles have been allocated from the federal budget for the creation of this center.
The "road map" also provides for the modernization of the remote monitoring system of forest fires of the Federal Forestry Agency. In addition, every year from 2022 it is planned to increase the number of paratroopers of the fire service of the subjects of the Russian Federation.
Abramchenko notes that in 2020, the area of forests covered by fire decreased by 18% compared to 2019. The average area of one fire was reduced by 28%.
