The multi-purpose submarine "Tiger "from the" animal " division of the Northern Fleet will return to service next year after repairs.
"Repair work and restoration of the technical readiness of the Tiger submarine is planned to be completed in 2022," a source in the military-industrial complex told TASS. Earlier it was reported that the "Tiger" will return to the fleet before the end of 2023.
The submarine K-154 " Tiger "is a representative of the large nuclear submarines of the project 971"Pike-B". These ships are characterized by good acoustic stealth and great firepower - they are able to use both torpedoes and cruise missiles. A number of ships in the series are being upgraded for the Kalibr-PL missile system.
The Tiger submarine became part of the Northern Fleet in 1993 and was assigned to the 24th Submarine Division, which received the nickname"animal" because of the names of the ships ("Panther", "Wolf", "Cheetah"and others). "Tiger" carried out several military services. In 2019, the ship came for repair at the Nerpa plant near Murmansk, a branch of the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center. There, the agency declined to comment on the timing of the submarine's return to service.
