Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the opening of a new missile base in the Persian Gulf.
According to the commander of the IRGC, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the base is armed with missiles with a range of "hundreds of kilometers" and high accuracy, state broadcaster IRIB reports.
According to Hossein Salami, the new facility will be one of the links of missile launch sites under the jurisdiction of the IRGC naval forces.
The official announcement of the creation of the new base was made on the anniversary of the IRGC missile strike on two military facilities in Iraq, where American soldiers were stationed. The January 8, 2020 attack was carried out in response to the assassination five days earlier (January 3) of the commander of the IRGC's special forces "Kods", Lieutenant General Qasem Suleimani, in a US Air Force drone strike at Baghdad International Airport.
