"Calculations of drones "Orlan-10" combined arms army of the West, stationed in the Leningrad region, during the Christmas holidays will be daily to monitor the fire situation in the places of dislocation of military units and formations of the army," - said the press service.
They noted that the drones have already started scheduled flights - "Eagles" spend at least 8 hours in the air with small intervals.
"All unmanned aerial vehicles are equipped with thermal imagers, which significantly increases the speed of detection of small fires in forests and in open areas," the headquarters of the ZVO added.
Medium-range drones "Orlan-10" are designed for conducting aerial reconnaissance and monitoring the situation from the air at an altitude of several thousand meters at a temperature of -30 to +40 degrees. They are also capable of issuing target designations to shock (fire) means, blocking cellular communication and distorting the GPS navigation field.
"Orlan-10" weighing 14 kg is capable of carrying 5 kg of payload, which includes replaceable modules with a thermal imaging camera, a color video camera on a gyro-stabilized rotary platform, a camera, and relay equipment.
