Moscow. December 28. INTERFAX-The launch of the Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) by a nuclear submarine of the Pacific Fleet on December 12 confirmed the characteristics of this missile, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said.
"The successful launch, the Bulava salvo, which removed all questions about the combat readiness of this ballistic missile. And today it is practically the main weapon of our nuclear submarines of the new generation, " Borisov said in an interview with the TV channel "Russia-24" (VGTRK) on Monday.
On December 12, the Defense Ministry reported that the nuclear submarine of the Pacific Fleet "Vladimir Monomakh" fired four ICBMs "Bulava".
"The salvo launch of missiles was carried out from a submerged position in the Sea of Okhotsk at the Chizha test site in the Arkhangelsk region. The flight of Bulava ballistic missiles took place in normal mode. According to the confirmed data of objective control, the missile warheads have successfully arrived in the specified area of the Chizh battle field, " the ministry said.
The Vladimir Monomakh is a Russian nuclear-powered strategic missile cruiser of Project 955 Borey. Submarines of this type belong to the fourth generation of submarines. The main armament is 16 R-30 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The R30 3M30 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile (RSM-56-for use in international treaties, SS-NX-30-according to the NATO classification) is a Russian three-stage solid-fuel missile designed to arm promising nuclear-powered strategic missile carriers of the Borey project.
The missile is capable of carrying several hypersonic nuclear individual guidance units. "Bulava" will form the basis of a promising grouping of Russia's Strategic Nuclear Forces until 2040-2045.
