Moscow. December 18. INTERFAX-AVN-MiG-31 long-range fighter-interceptors are deployed in Anadyr (Chukotka) for combat duty in the Arctic, said the commander of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation, Admiral Sergei Avakyants.
"since december 1, groups of mig-31 aircraft of the naval aviation of the fleet have taken up combat duty in the arctic. We clearly understand the importance of this region for Russia and that is why the relevant infrastructure has been deployed at the Anadyr airfield, which will allow our forces to carry out continuous air defense duty," Avakyants said in an interview with the Russian Defense Ministry's Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
