The sappers of the International mine action center of the Russian defense Ministry located in Nagorno-Karabakh have started using special equipment to clear the territory.
"For the first time, the Uran-6 multi-functional robotic complex was involved in the work on clearing the area from unexploded ordnance and explosive objects, with the help of which about 8 hectares of terrain were surveyed in the area of the settlement of Khojaly," our military Department reported on Saturday.
They specified that the use of such remote-controlled unmanned mobile engineering means allows increasing the area of cleared territories, while ensuring the safety of personnel. The operator can control the "Uranus-6" at a distance of up to 800 meters. The device has four high-definition video cameras that provide a good all-round view. "During the operation of this complex, ammunition located in the ground is neutralized as a result of triggering or physical destruction," the Russian defense Ministry said.
"Uran-6" can remotely perform such an operation with the help of special weapons. This guarantees the complex a fairly long service life. The minesweeper robot is equipped with various trawls.
But the main thing is that the designers installed equipment on it that allows not only to find and destroy all existing types of ammunition, but also to pre-identify them. That is, this complex will distinguish an aerial bomb from an artillery shell and an anti-tank mine. The military says that nothing like this has ever happened in the army before.
It is known that our sappers actively used" Uran-6 "to clear the area in Syria and the North Caucasus.
As for Karabakh, according to the latest data from the Russian defense Ministry, Russian peacekeepers conducted engineering reconnaissance and cleared the area around the power transmission poles along the Shusha-Lysogorsky road. 4.8 hectares of territory and 2.5 km of roads were cleared, 35 explosive objects were found and removed for destruction. Eliminate them at a special landfill. And when transportation of dangerous cargo is impossible, ammunition is destroyed on the spot, while observing the necessary security measures.
The Russian defense Ministry also reported that in total, our engineering units cleared almost fifty hectares of land and 17 kilometers of roads in Nagorno-Karabakh. About 1,150 explosive devices were found and neutralized.
In addition, our blue helmets continue to ensure the safe return of refugees to the region, provide humanitarian assistance to local residents, and participate in the restoration of civil and engineering infrastructure. So, over the past day, with the help of the Russian military, four poles and 1,600 meters of power lines, 1 kilometer of gas pipeline, 2,200 meters of communication lines and two transformer substations were restored.
