Next year, the Baltic fleet will continue to form another motorized rifle unit with a location in the Kaliningrad region.
This, according to the press service of the Ministry, was stated by the commander of the Baltic fleet, Admiral Alexander Nosatov, at the Baltic naval base, where a solemn meeting was held on the occasion of the beginning of the school year. In the Navy, it begins on December 1, as in General in the Armed forces of the Russian Federation.
A motorized rifle division is already being created in the westernmost region. The exclave is surrounded by NATO member States that are building up their military capabilities near Russia's Western borders, and strengthening its defense capability is of particular importance.
In addition, according to Admiral Nosatov, the Baltic fleet will receive another small missile boat project 22800 "Karakurt". This will be the fourth MRC in the fleet. It is armed with eight cruise missiles and the Pantsir-M anti-aircraft system.
In the new academic year, the Baltic fleet plans to participate in the strategic command and staff exercise "West-2021", as well as at least 11 long-distance trips of ships. That's not counting the participation in the planned activities of combat training and international maneuvers.
Currently, three ships of the Baltic fleet - two corvettes and an auxiliary vessel-are on long-distance ocean voyages in the Atlantic ocean and in the North sea. This year, Baltic sailors made more than 17 unofficial visits and business calls to the ports of Greece, Portugal, Syria and other foreign countries.
