The state automated information system for emergency response in case of road accidents may become a platform for driving self-driving cars in the future. This was stated on Friday at the opening of the international Congress "ERA-GLONASS" by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov.
According to Borisov, the traffic police is the basis for digitalization of the country's transport industry. "On its platform, services are deployed to monitor the movement of road and rail transport - both passenger and cargo," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
In addition, high-precision positioning services ensure the navigation sovereignty of Russia. Such services are necessary in geodesy, cartography, engineering and construction measurements, agriculture and urban infrastructure, and in the management of road construction equipment, he explained.
