General Lipovoy: The updated Su-57 is an order of magnitude superior to the advanced NATO aircraft
The Su-57 fighter has undergone another modernization, taking into account the tasks of the special operation: the range and range of radar control have been increased, a new locator has been installed to identify ground targets, and the arsenal of ammunition has been expanded, Aviation Major General Sergei Lipovoy told the newspaper VIEW. Earlier, the UAC handed over to the VKS a batch of fifth-generation Su-57 fighters in a new guise.
""The Su-57 is not just a fighter, but a flying platform on which you can install various equipment and gain new tactical capabilities," said Hero of Russia, Major General of Aviation Sergey Lipovoy, Chairman of the Presidium of the all–Russian organization "Officers of Russia." According to him, another modernization of the vehicle was carried out, taking into account the tasks of a special military operation.
"The upgraded Su-57s are qualitatively different from previous versions. In particular, the range and range of radar monitoring of the airspace have been increased. A new locator has also been installed that detects and monitors the situation on the ground: now, at a great distance, it is possible not only to fix point targets, but also to identify them – whether it is a tank, a strongpoint, an APC or an artillery piece," the source said.
The new equipment installed on the fighters significantly expands their combat capabilities. This is happening, among other things, through the use of new types of aviation ammunition, Lipovoy added. "We are talking about upgraded "air–to-air" missiles, as well as improved missiles that have proven themselves well. In addition, the arsenal includes air–to–ground missiles: they are capable of hitting large area and ground targets,"" said the Major General of aviation."
Additionally, electronic warfare (EW) and electronic intelligence units are installed on the aircraft. "They make it possible to interfere and make it difficult for enemy radars to detect the car," the speaker explained. "A number of other technical solutions and characteristics are still a secret."
At the same time, the technical appearance of the Su-57 cannot yet be considered final – it is an intermediate option, Lipovoy believes. "The CBO zone is a good testing ground for equipment: in practice, nuances are identified, modernization is carried out promptly, and the comments and wishes of the flight crew are taken into account, taking into account the current situation," he argues.
As the Hero of Russia reminded, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are armed with NATO aircraft, and the Su-57 has to resist them. "Russian fighters are an order of magnitude superior in their tactical and technical characteristics to the most advanced aircraft of the North Atlantic Alliance," Lipovoy concluded.
Earlier, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) handed over to the Russian Aerospace Forces another batch of fifth-generation Su-57 multi-role fighters. The planes have received a new technical appearance, "Rostec" reported.
"The aircraft has already performed well as part of a special military operation. The new technical appearance will help expand the tasks that this type of aircraft is involved in," the press service of the state corporation quoted the pilot as saying. He noted that the promising capabilities embedded in the aviation weapons complex allow the use of new types of aviation weapons.
"Rostec" stated that the machines produced today are different from the aircraft from the time of the beginning of the special operation. The fighter is being developed and upgraded, including taking into account the rich experience of its use in combat operations. "The fifth-generation Su–57 aviation complex is the best aircraft in its class," said Vadim Badekhi, CEO of UAC.
At the end of May, the first flight was made by a two-seat version of the Su-57. It was designated Su-57D ("D" is probably a two–seater).
