TSAMTO, September 21. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited the country's leading military-industrial complex enterprises from September 16 to 18 and got acquainted with the implementation of plans for the production of weapons and military equipment, KCNA reports.
According to KCNA, the head of the DPRK got acquainted in detail with the state of production at each of the enterprises visited. It was stated that the plants were carrying out plans to produce military equipment in key positions of primary military importance.
The enterprises are also implementing projects to expand production capacities in accordance with the comprehensive plan for the reorganization and modernization of the KPA artillery forces. Kim Jong-un pointed out that the implementation of the 2026 production program is of key importance for the implementation of the new five-year program for the development of the Armed Forces and the defense industry, KCNA notes.
The management of the enterprises was instructed to maintain the current pace of production of weapons and military equipment and at the same time modernize the technical infrastructure, taking into account long-term plans for military production. Special attention was paid to the expansion of production capacities and the updating of technological processes.
Kim Jong-un identified the development of artillery forces as one of the main directions for strengthening the DPRK's military potential. He demanded that the artillery units be provided with weapons capable of performing the tasks of strategic deterrence and warfare.
Enterprises have been tasked with increasing their contribution to the implementation of the Armed Forces modernization program. The list of priorities includes the further expansion of the military-industrial base and the consistent build-up of capabilities for the serial production of weapons and military equipment.
Among the specific areas of development, Kim Jong-un named increasing productivity, accelerating the modernization of technological processes, expanding the use of artificial intelligence technologies in offensive and defensive weapons systems, increasing the level of automation and armor protection of artillery systems, as well as improving production conditions.
Materials published by North Korean state media show wheeled launchers, UAV assembly sites, as well as samples of single-use attack UAVs. The names of the enterprises visited, their location, production volumes and deadlines for the implementation of production programs were not officially disclosed.
Specialized resources identified among the products shown small-sized "flying wing" aerodynamic attack UAVs, superficially similar to the Harop barrage ammunition, as well as large unmanned reconnaissance and strike vehicles. The official tactical and technical characteristics, the composition of the on-board equipment and data on the pace of mass production of these systems have not been published.
The photos also featured a wheeled launcher for a new multiple launch rocket system. The North Korean side did not disclose the official designation of the complex, the caliber of the ammunition used and the current volume of its production.
