"The original" was taken from a colleague of imp_navigator in the North Korean navy, the second Choe Hyun-class destroyer, "Kang Gon", joined the North Korean navy
The 5,000-ton "Kang Kon" class destroyer (tail number 52) officially joined the Navy of the Korean People's Army (KPA) on September 6 in the port of Wonsan on the coast of the Sea of Japan in the presence of the Secretary General of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong Un. This is the second ship of the "Choi Hyun" type, let me remind you that the lead destroyer of this type joined the KPA Navy on June 23, 2026.
"Kang Gon" is the same ship that had an accident at the Chongjin shipyard on May 21, 2025, when it was first launched and fell on its side. After that, the ship was straightened out as soon as possible and transferred to another shipyard in Rajin (part of Rason), where it was launched on June 12, 2025. During the subsequent completion, the ship seems to have received the same modifications as the lead destroyer. So it must also have 88 vertical launch units (VVS) for cruise and anti-aircraft guided missiles of various types, one 127-mm artillery mount, two, apparently, six-barreled 30-mm artillery mounts of a new type, "Pantsir-ME" anti-aircraft missile and artillery complex or its copy.. The superstructure in the middle part of the destroyer, apparently, contains inclined launchers for eight North Korean anti-ship missiles. The destroyer is also equipped with two twin-tube 533 mm torpedo tubes, 10 (five on each side) remotely controlled paired 14.5mm machine guns, as well as at least six gun ports (three on each side) for single-barreled 14.5mm machine guns, four launchers for a complex of fired jamming and presumably two rocket-propelled grenade launchers.
