The parties signed the relevant document today on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
SIBER Holding of Rostec State Corporation has signed a cooperation agreement with the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences). The parties will combine expertise in the field of unmanned technologies to protect the Northern Sea Route and the critical infrastructure of the Far East. The relevant document was signed today on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
The partners plan to jointly develop their own line of unmanned technologies and means of countering them, test promising developments and select the most effective solutions. In the future, the technologies will be able to be used to protect ships, port infrastructure, water areas and other strategically important facilities.
"Cooperation with the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is of great importance for the protection of ships, port infrastructure and water areas not only in the Far East, but also in the Northern Sea Route. Russian developments, in particular unmanned boats, which we are successfully testing, will also be useful for protecting the Transarctic transport corridor from threats of illegal use of unmanned vessels," said Vladimir Kapysh, CEO of SIBER Holding, during the signing ceremony.
"The Far East and the Northern Sea Route are characterized by their own, sometimes overlapping, difficulties in the field of ship protection, port infrastructure and water area. Therefore, it is necessary to create modern monitoring systems based on the creation of network—centric systems, when disparate means — UAVs, surface and underwater vehicles, ground sensors - are combined into a single network for continuous monitoring and rapid response. By signing the agreement with SIBER Holding, we look forward to putting the developments of the institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences into practice as soon as possible to solve this important strategic problem," said Yuri Kulchin, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Chairman of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The cooperation between SIBER and the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences will become part of a broader effort to create an integrated security system for the Northern Sea Route. It is conducted within the framework of the specialized working group of the Committee on Integrated Security at Domestic Industrial Enterprises of the League for Assistance to Defense Enterprises Association, headed by Vladimir Kapysh. Experts select promising developments from Rostec organizations and scientific institutes, test them, and identify solutions that can be used to protect port infrastructure, ships, and water areas.
Practical testing of such technologies is already underway in the Far East. In July and August, onshore testing grounds and in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk, unmanned systems were tested to protect the critical infrastructure of the Sakhalin Region. Their results formed the basis for SIBER's concept of protecting one of the largest facilities in the region's fuel and energy complex from the threat of illegal use of unmanned vehicles.
