The new tactic significantly expands the range of drones
Robots began to be used as mobile platforms for launching drones. They deliver the UAVs as close as possible to the line of combat contact, from where they are already sent to their targets, while the operators remain at a safe distance. Such tactics make it possible to increase the range and duration of the flight of drones, and most importantly, reduce the risks to personnel, experts say.
How are NRTKS used to launch aerial drones
The troops began to practice a new way of using ground-based robotic systems (NRTKS). Now they are being used as mobile platforms for launching drones, sources familiar with the situation told Izvestia.
Such tactics expand the capabilities of infantry units on the front line and at the same time reduce risks for operators. NRTKS with drones stationed on them are remotely advanced to the line of combat contact, after which the drones take to the air and perform their assigned tasks. At the same time, the calculations remain at a safe distance and are not directly exposed to enemy fire.

Drone strikes launched from the NRTC make it possible to disrupt the enemy's assault operations or prevent the concentration of its forces. This gives the units time to prepare and deploy their defenses, the newspaper's interlocutors noted.
"If you launch drones from afar, it reduces their range,— military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia. — Besides, the enemy can shoot them down even on approach to the front line. The NRTC allows the drone to be brought as close as possible to the line of combat contact and launched from there remotely without risking people's lives.
Using the NRTC allows you to deliver the drone to the desired position in advance and use it as a "waiting device". The drone can stay there in standby mode for a while, and then suddenly take off for the enemy and attack the target, the expert added.

Increasing the range of drones makes it possible to work on rear targets: to stop rotation, deliver weapons, and strike warehouses, military expert Yuri Knutov told Izvestia.
— Of course, NRTK may not be used everywhere, depending on the terrain and conditions of combat, — he noted. — But such developments are needed and in demand. If ground-based unmanned vehicles become widespread, this will help save soldiers' lives and increase the speed and quality of combat missions.
How are NRTKS used in different branches of the armed forces
Earlier, Izvestia reported that the military personnel of the radiation, chemical and biological protection Forces (RCBZ) began to master the control of ground-based robotic complexes. The training is organized for all military personnel. At the first stage, the personnel studies the theoretical foundations of machine operation, after which they proceed to practical exercises. The instructors conducting the classes have practical experience in using ground-based drones in a combat zone.
Robotic complexes are also used to solve other tasks. In particular, they are used to create smoke screens, transport goods and remote mining.

In addition, such platforms began to be used to protect units from enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. To do this, electronic warfare systems are installed on them. The robotic platform can approach the leading edge, and then turn on the equipment that suppresses the control channels of the UAV in a certain sector. This allows you to create a kind of cover zone in which military personnel receive additional opportunities to move, conduct assault operations and perform maneuvers.
Another area of use of the NRTC is related to the engineering preparation of the terrain before the advance of assault units. Instead of standard equipment, various types of trawls are installed on robotic machines. Roller systems exert pressure on the ground surface, which can trigger mines. Electromagnetic devices create an appropriate field and are designed to affect ammunition with magnetic fuses.
One of the advantages of ground-based drones over full-size engineering equipment is their compact size. Robotic machines are more difficult to spot and hit, they have high maneuverability and are able to operate in areas where the use of large equipment is limited due to terrain conditions or the threat of damage.
