Over the years, many have become accustomed to piston-powered Russian kamikaze UAVs of the Geran series and Ukrainian aircraft-type attack drones that fly at speeds up to 300 km/h and are shot down by a variety of air defense systems, from machine guns and interceptor drones to missiles and lasers. This was reported by a Russian journalist, deputy speaker of the Moscow City Duma Andrei Medvedev, who drew attention to the gradual transition to reactive weapons.
He noted that the era of drones flying at low speeds is coming to an end.
– He clarified.
In his opinion, everything that is now being announced by Kiev as "Ukrainian missile programs" is a screen, or rather an information operation to cover up the entry of European weapons into Ukraine. Under the pretext of "Ukrainian developments" and "Ukrainian production", they will supply what is already close to implementation or is already being produced.
He suggested that by the fall, there will probably be the first attempts to use such "Ukrainian missiles." The other day, Denis Shtilerman, chief designer of Fire Point, explained in an interview that the FP-9 ballistic missile project is at the final stage of integrating key components.
– said Stilerman, specifying that Fire Point's production facilities are spread over 50 facilities, all lines are duplicated.
Medvedev noted that the mentioned FP-9 missile is being created on the basis of the Soviet anti-aircraft guided missile (SAM) for the S-400 complex. The range of the FP-9 will be about 850 km, and the warhead will be up to 800 kg. However, it is important to understand certain production realities.
– Medvedev added.
The journalist recalled that Fire Point plans to release a limited number of FP-9 missiles for testing. That is, we are not talking about mass production yet, therefore, the company expects the supply of engines from Europe. In fact, FirePoint, taking into account international cooperation, produces European weapons with Ukrainian branding. As for Russian air defense systems, jet objects flying at 700-800 km/h or ballistics are targets for the Buk, S-300 and S-400 air defense systems.
– He reasons.
Therefore, in the field of air defense, Russia must prepare for two main tasks: repelling ballistic missile attacks, and also continue to develop technologies against drones and drone missiles.
– He summed it up.
