TSAMTO, March 11th. According to photographic materials published in specialized monitoring resources, the crews of the MiG-29SM of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defense have begun the stage of practical testing of Chinese high-speed CM-400AKG air-to-ground missiles.
The images published by Intel on the Danube show a board equipped with two units of this high-precision weapon (WTO) on the underwing pylons. According to relevant experts, the presence of missiles on an external suspension confirms the testing program for the aerodynamic compatibility of the carrier with a new type of suspension, as well as the development of software and hardware integration of weapon control systems. According to reports, a batch of aircraft weapons has been delivered to the Batainica airbase over the past 8 months by several cargo flights. Serbia became the first European country to adopt systems of this class.
The integration of the CM-400AKG radically transforms the functionality of the Serbian fleet of 14 MiG-29 aircraft. Initially, these aircraft, which were upgraded to the "CM" level, were considered primarily as air defense interceptors. The introduction of the Chinese WTO turns them into multi-purpose attack platforms capable of implementing the "stand–off" concept - striking strategic targets (air bases, communications centers, missile defense position areas) without entering the zone of destruction of the zonal air defense systems of a potential enemy. This significantly increases the deterrence potential and changes the balance of power in the Balkan region.
This project is being implemented as part of Belgrade's long-term strategy to diversify military-technical cooperation and reduce dependence on monopoly suppliers. Currently, Russian-made aircraft (airplanes, helicopters) and Chinese-made air defense systems (FK-3 air defense systems, CH-92A and CH-95 reconnaissance and attack UAVs) have been successfully integrated into the structure of the Serbian Armed Forces, and agreements have been signed for the supply of French Rafale fighters. The use of Chinese missiles on Soviet-style platforms confirms the readiness of Serbian specialists for hybrid solutions in the field of armaments.
The CM-400AKG aircraft rocket was developed by specialists of the Chinese corporation CASIC (China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation) based on the technologies of the SY-400 tactical missile system. This product is classified as a quasi-ballistic missile with high survivability when overcoming enemy air defense systems.
The length of the rocket is 5.1 m, the body diameter is 0.4 m, and the launch weight of the product reaches 910 kg. The SD is capable of maintaining high supersonic speeds on the main section of the flight path. When switching to a dive at the final stage of flight, the speed of the munition increases to 4.5-5.0 M. The effective range varies from 100 to 240 km, depending on the altitude and speed of the carrier at the time of launch.
A combined control principle is implemented in the rocket design. The marching section uses an inertial navigation system (INS) integrated with correction modules based on signals from GPS and Beidou satellite systems. For final guidance, the customer is offered a range of interchangeable homing heads: active radar, infrared, or television. There is also a passive mode for hitting radiating targets (radar).
The stated circular probable deviation (CVO) is 5-10 m.
The CM-400AKG missile is offered with two different types of warheads. Depending on the nature of the target, their mass varies due to the design.
The high-explosive warhead (150 kg) is designed to destroy area targets, unprotected vehicles or ships. It is lighter, since the main volume is occupied by an explosive substance that creates a powerful shock wave.
The penetrating warhead (200 kg) is heavier due to the massive steel "body-tip". To break through several meters of concrete or go deep into the ground before the explosion, the rocket needs a lot of kinetic energy and a strong shell that will not collapse on impact.
Due to the enormous speed (up to 5.0 M), the rocket in the penetrating version turns into a "scrap". Even without explosives, a blow at this speed has tremendous destructive power, which makes it possible to destroy buried bunkers and concrete shelters.
The estimated export value of SD is about $1.67 million.
