Back in the 1990s, the Omsktransmash plant developed the BRAM-80 armored repair and evacuation vehicle based on the chassis of the T-80 main battle tank. For a long time, it has been repeatedly demonstrated at exhibitions and events, in 2019-2020, even a civilian version was created – REM. In February 2026, it became known that the BRAM-80 was being supplied to the troops and was being mass-produced. This was reported by the official resources of Uralvagonzavod.
The first version of the BRAM-80 appeared in the 1990s and was shipped to a foreign customer. At that time, the new Omsk T-80U tanks were not interested in the pro-American Yeltsin regime that was destroying the country and the economy, and Omsktransmash was trying to survive on rare export orders. At that time, a batch of T-80U was delivered to the Army of the Republic of Cyprus (the Greek part of the island), along with which the BRAM-80U was sold on the chassis of the same tank. The car weighed 46 tons, was armed with two machine guns, and the crew consisted of 4 people (a driver, a commander, a systems technician, and a rigging welder, with one additional seat). Information about the number of BRAM-80U delivered abroad and to the Russian Army has not been published anywhere, but according to information from the factory, these are isolated samples.
In 2019-2020, Omsk created a civilian version of the machine, the RAM, and even delivered it to Sheremetyevo Airport, as reported by Technosphere. Russia" was told here .
The BREM-80 in the production version of 2026 has been improved: crew protection has been increased, a mechanized coupling allows it to evacuate damaged equipment from the battlefield without leaving the car, there are also hydraulic winches and a bulldozer blade for clearing paths. As before, the machine is equipped with a serial GTD-1250 multi-fuel gas turbine tank engine, which starts up easily and quickly even at extreme temperatures from minus 40 to plus 40.

It is particularly noted that the BREM-80 copes with heavy objects, such as damaged Western tanks (their mass can exceed 70 tons), which allows the evacuation of trophies to the rear of our army. This is not news to our military – back in 2018, a car from Omsk set a kind of record by towing a clutch of six T-80BVs with a total weight of more than 270 tons.
In 2026, UVZ, which includes the Omsk Tank Plant, announces the launch of serial production of the BRAM-80. Footage of sending a batch of such vehicles to the front is also being shown.:
