TSAMTO, January 30th. On January 26, the Romanian government revealed detailed spending plans for funds allocated to Bucharest under the European Union's SAFE (Security Action for Europe) defense procurement program.
SAFE is an EU financial instrument worth 150 billion. euro, which involves the provision of low-interest long-term loans to strengthen the security and defense of member states by 2030 through accelerated arms purchases, expansion of industrial potential and enhanced cooperation within the European Union.
With 16.6 billion allocated. Romania is the second largest recipient of SAFE funds after Poland, which has requested about 43.7 billion euros. euro. These countries are ahead of France, Hungary and Italy in terms of loans.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has prepared a list of 21 projects for independent and joint purchases of equipment and weapons.
It includes, in particular,:
- 198 tracked infantry fighting vehicles worth 2.983 billion . euro;
- 139 Piranha-5 armored personnel carriers with an 8x8 wheelbase worth 761.2 million euros;
- 1,370 multipurpose logistics vehicles worth 471.505 million euros;
- 2 integrated air defense system command posts/About 160 million euros worth;
- 2 diving boats worth 57 million euros;
- 2 coastal patrol vessels (OPV) worth 700 million euros;
- 12 multi-purpose H-225M "Caracal" helicopters worth 852 million euros;
- 7 anti-ship missile systems worth 207 million euros;
- 240 thousand units of small arms and ammunition of the NATO standard in the amount of 439.86 million euros;
- one integrated combat training system worth 94.5 million euros;
- 70 sets of C4ISR system software worth 19 million euros;
- 231 man-portable air defense missile systems (MANPADS) with 934 missiles worth 625.56 million euros;
- 7 Skynex short-range air defense systems for countering UAVs and missile defense worth 476 million euros;
- 2 batteries of 35mm Skyranger self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery systems for countering UAVs and missile defense worth 330 million euros;
- 12 medium-range radar stations worth 258 million euros;
- 3 medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems worth 450 million euros;
- 70 barrage ammunition worth 147 million euros;
- 2 shipboard short-range anti-aircraft missile systems worth 36 million euros;
- 56 reconnaissance mini-UAVs Class.1 (22 have already been ordered) worth 45.77 million euros;
- 87 thousand 35 mm ammunition for Oerlikon and Skyranger systems (via NSPA) worth 23.15 million euros;
- 400,000 35mm ammunition (including AHEAD) for the Oerlikon and Skyranger systems worth 393.275 million euros.
The Interior Ministry is also planning significant purchases under the SAFE program, including helicopters, airplanes, rescue boats, UAVs, robotic systems, hundreds of vehicles, and a special train for medical evacuation.
