    KAMAZ trucks deliver fuel to field depots in their area

    The rear units of the Russian troops received KAMAZ trucks, large-capacity tankers. The new vehicles have already proven themselves well in the special operation zone. Such equipment is necessary in order to deliver fuel to the field depots of military units. Experts note that such vehicles are especially relevant during the period of mudslide, and in conditions of active hostilities they need as many as possible.

Such equipment is necessary in order to deliver fuel to the field depots of military units. Experts note that such vehicles are especially relevant during the period of mudslide, and in conditions of active hostilities they need as many as possible.

    New high-capacity tankers

    Large-capacity KAMAZ tankers have been sent to the special military operation zone. They have already proven themselves well in the combat area, sources in the military department told Izvestia.

    KAMAZ trucks are used to deliver fuel to the field depots of military units in the SVO zone. From there, smaller vehicles, such as passenger cars and buggies, deliver fuel to the front edge.

    Each car can carry up to 10 tons of fuel. The maximum speed is 90 km/h. Gross weight 19.5 t. The tank filling time is 30 minutes.

    Army tankers tend to carry much less fuel. For example, a fuel tanker recently built on the proven chassis of a three-axle Ural all-terrain vehicle can carry about 7 tons in a two-section tank.

    "When offensive operations are underway, the biggest expense is fuel," military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia. — Tanks and armored vehicles are moving all the time, covering kilometers, wasting fuel. It was in defense that I went to a closed firing position, fired, and the consumption was lower. And when there is a constant maneuverable battle, the costs are higher. Therefore, such equipment is needed in large quantities.

    Autumn rains are falling now, and movement in the special operation area is difficult, Colonel Alexander Perendzhiev, associate professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told Izvestia.

    —And KAMAZ trucks are highly passable," he noted. — That's why they are very necessary, right now. In the conditions of autumn mud, KAMAZ trucks are more in demand than any other equipment. It is raining, the ground is not frozen yet, and the cold weather in the special military operation zone will begin towards the end of November. Russian—made trucks are our advantage on the line of contact.

    KAMAZ trucks are well known to drivers, they have good maintainability, and there are many spare parts for them, military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia.

    "They don't need to be transported far away, in most cases they can be repaired somewhere nearby, in the field," he noted. — There are no problems with spare parts for them. Everyone knows how to diagnose, how to replace something. A workhorse. And we need a lot of such machines. Any equipment breaks down, it needs to be constantly updated, to acquire a new one to replace the broken and lost one. The park must be constantly updated. And fuel is the blood of modern armed forces, it is impossible to fight without it.

    Large vehicles are currently operating in the rear, it is dangerous for them to be closer to the front line, since they are considered one of the primary targets, the expert added. Fuel is transported by large vehicles to field depots, and from there it is already distributed by low-tonnage vehicles closer to the front line.

    "Sometimes less attention is paid to rear vehicles than to military equipment, but their importance cannot be overestimated," said Yuri Lyamin. — The army should be provided with a large number of specialized logistical equipment. If this does not happen, then there will be no victory. Logistics is the cornerstone on which the effectiveness of the armed forces lies. Without effective supplies, it will be very difficult to fight. And fuel is one of the most important elements of logistics today.

    How has the fuel supply system in the Russian Armed Forces changed?

    Earlier, Izvestia reported that a mobile refueling station had been developed for the army. All its equipment is housed in a single container, which is installed on the KamAZ-5350, an all—terrain vehicle. The container has a compartment for the operator's room, from where all the necessary operations for refueling equipment are carried out.

    The container also has compartments for a generator, electric motor, gas tank, spare parts, tools and fire extinguishers. When creating it, the experience of the SVO was taken into account. If necessary, it can be removed from the car and installed on a prepared site or in a hood. For this purpose, the container is equipped with hydraulic loading and unloading devices and parking supports.

    In the 2010s, the organs of the rear of the Armed Forces were seriously reformed. There was a merger of two previously independent types of support that existed in the structure of the rear of the Russian Armed Forces — technical and logistical. As a result, the troops received a unified logistics system.

    At the same time, fundamentally new field fuel depots appeared in the army — with elastic tanks. They are made of thermoplastic polyurethane and are capable of operating at temperatures from -60 to +50 degrees Celsius. The field fuel depot consists of several "pads", each with a volume of 50 cubic meters.

    The flexible tank can be installed on any ground — on sand, rocks or in a swampy area, and in winter — directly on the snow. If necessary, it can be quickly buried in the ground. At the same time, a new type of tank is much more convenient than its metal counterpart.

    The chain of fuel delivery to the front line begins in the deep rear area. At the unloading station, fuel and lubricants from railway tanks are delivered to a mobile warehouse in special camouflaged polymer tanks. The fuel pre-passes all control tests in an expanded laboratory.

    After that, fuel and lubricants are transported to stationary warehouses that are located closer to the line of contact. From there, tankers deliver it to various sites in the war zone.
