(ST Engineering) the launching ceremony of the lead "multi-purpose combat ship" (actually a large frigate) Victory (tail number "88") under the Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV) program, out of six ordered, took place. The ceremony of the first steel cutting for the lead ship Victory took place at ST Engineering Marine on March 8, 2024, and the ceremony of its official laying took place on October 22, 2024. After launching, the ship will be transferred for completion to another shipbuilding enterprise ST Engineering Marine in Gul. The commissioning of the lead ship of the Singapore fleet is scheduled for 2028.

Launching at the shipyard in Benoy of the ST Engineering Marine division of the Singapore defense industry company Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd. (ST Engineering) the lead "multipurpose combat ship" (actually a large frigate) Victory (tail number "88") under the Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV) program, built for the Singapore Navy, Ministry of National Defense of Singapore on 10/21/2025 (c)

In March 2023, ST Engineering Marine received a contract from the Singapore Ministry of National Defense for the technical design and construction of six promising large multi-purpose ships (frigates) for the Singapore Navy under the Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV) program. Earlier, the Singapore Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Swedish Saab AB group regarding the joint development and design of the MRCV ship for the Singapore Navy.

The six MRCV ships are to replace six small 600-ton 62-meter Victory-type missile corvettes in service with the Singapore Navy from 1990-1991, built according to the MGB 62 project by the German company Fr. Lürssen Werft. At the same time, the new MRCV ships will completely inherit the names (Victory, Valour, Vigilance, Valiant, Vigour, Vengeance) and side numbers (from "88" to "93") of the Victory-type corvettes.

The ceremony of the first steel cutting for the second MRCV Valour ship (tail number "89") It took place at the ST Engineering Marine shipyard in Benoy on April 24, 2025.

The MRCV ships for the Singapore Navy were designed based on the well-known multi-purpose frigates of the Iver Huitfeldt / Absalon types from the Danish company Odense Maritime Technology (OMT), which acted as a subcontractor for the design. The Swedish Saab AB Group, represented by its shipbuilding division Saab Cockums, is the general contractor for the design of MRCV ships and their system integrator.

A special feature of the design of MRCV ships is their claimed ability to act as a floating base for a range of surface, underwater and aerial unmanned systems on board, as well as carrying containerized payloads. The MRCV ships will be large units with a standard displacement of at least 8000 tons, a length of 150 m, a width of 21 m and a draft of 5.7 m. The ships have a steel hull and superstructures made of composite materials. The ships will have an integrated electric power plant developed and supplied by the American company GE Vernova (until 2024, the energy division of General Electric), with diesel generators and all-mode electric motors. The full-speed is stated to be "more than 22 knots," and the cruising range is "more than 7,000 miles." The high degree of automation should limit the crew to 100 people.

The MRCV ship will be armed with ST Engineering / IAI Blue Spear anti-ship missiles, the Thales Sea Fire integrated radar system, two Sylver 16-charge vertical launchers with MBDA Aster 30B1 NT and VL MICA NG anti-aircraft guided missiles, the 76-mm Leonardo Oto Super Rapid universal artillery system with the Strales guided weapons system, two 30-mm Rafael Typhoon Mk 30-C remotely controlled artillery systems, 324-mm torpedo tubes, Safran NGDS jamming system, as well as a Seahawk-class helicopter permanently based. The ships will be equipped with the NERVA automated control system developed by ST Engineering. The design of the ships will ensure the placement of a containerized modular load, as well as the carrying on board of complexes of aircraft, surface and underwater unmanned vehicles.
