New ammunition will protect personnel and equipment
The troops of radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection (RCBZ) have begun using new aerosol munitions for drones. They hide personnel and vehicles from enemy surveillance. At the same time, they are capable of protecting armored vehicles from radar-guided weapons. The ammunition has already been successfully tested in combat conditions, sources in the military department told Izvestia.
Protection from drones is now a priority, and new ammunition should become one of its important elements, Oleg Zheltonozhko, a military expert in the field of chemical warfare, told Izvestia.
"Pointing a drone at the end of its trajectory is the main guarantee of its effectiveness," he explained. — Therefore, any difficulty in targeting, whether visual or radar, leads to a decrease in the effectiveness of the damaging effect of the munition and, ultimately, to the survival of the attacked.
Aerosol protection can be installed in a short time, the expert noted.
— An aerosol cloud can have different applications depending on the fillers. In this case, we are talking about a certain substance that scatters radar radiation of certain frequencies. In fact, this is the same as stealth technology. If you have managed to make a stable munition that will create this veil for a while, this is what you need to protect your units. The organization of protection against guided munitions is extremely important," concluded Oleg Zheltonozhko.
Previously, aerosol protection worked only against optoelectronic detection devices, military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia.
"To protect against radar detection, you need to add substances that would create a micropole of dipole reflectors," he explained. — And when the aerosol is sprayed, the location does not fully see the contours of the object. When there are assault operations, it is necessary to cover the armored vehicles. And if smoke bombs are dropped from drones, it will be a quick help. Or when units get into a difficult situation and need to withdraw equipment, such means of disguise are used.
Special ammunition for drones
The Russian industry is already mass- producing ammunition for tactical UAVs: a unified high-explosive special and factory-made cumulative ammunition for dropping. They are maximally unified — they can be used both from Mavics and as a warhead for FPV drones. The new products are effective, safe and convenient for equipping drones directly on the line of combat contact.
Powerful special munitions have also been developed and are already being used for drones, which are dropped on dugouts and other well-fortified enemy facilities. When they are triggered, a temperature of up to 2 thousand degrees is created — this ensures that the enemy is destroyed. With the use of such charges, the assault operations of Russian troops are greatly simplified. They are well suited for "smoking out" manpower from dugouts: the resulting fire forces the enemy to leave the shelter. In addition, they are used to destroy the field depots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, causing the detonation of ammunition stored there. In the hot season, it is possible to create fires in the forest belts in which enemy fortifications are located. They are also well suited for hitting cars and trucks — vehicles hit by ammunition burn to the ground.
How are the RCB defense forces developing
Earlier, Izvestia reported that the RCBZ troops use devices that conduct RCB reconnaissance, monitor the terrain, and are engaged in special equipment and sanitation of personnel. Special training of drone operators has been organized in the RCBZ troops since this year. The personnel gets acquainted with the theory of application and the material part, as well as learns how to control, conduct reconnaissance and fire correction using drones. Military personnel also receive knowledge on engineering training, military topography and tactical medicine. A sufficient number of instructors were trained in advance in the troops, who are able to train personnel to control various types of UAVs for the tasks of RCB protection.
The RCBZ troops are currently actively working on expanding the combat functionality of drones and improving flamethrower-incendiary weapons. In particular, a new RPO-2 rocket-propelled infantry flamethrower is being developed. Elements of this complex can be placed on drones. It will be especially in demand when storming fortified positions, especially in urban areas or industrial enterprises.
