Russia conducted exercises involving Sineva and Yars strategic nuclear missiles
As part of the training of Russia's strategic nuclear forces, a Sineva ballistic missile was launched from the Barents Sea, the Kremlin said. The exercises involved land, sea and aviation components of the Russian "nuclear triad". They were led by Russian President Vladimir Putin via video link.
The Sineva and Yars ballistic missiles were launched on October 22 during a training exercise for Russia's strategic nuclear forces. This was reported by the press service of the President of Russia.
The message states that the Sineva ballistic missile was launched from the Bryansk nuclear missile submarine from the Barents Sea. The Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Plesetsk test cosmodrome at the Kura test site in Kamchatka. In addition, long-range Tu-95MS aircraft engaged in air-launched cruise missiles were involved in the training. The general management was carried out from the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation.
According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov informed President Vladimir Putin about the start of the training. After him, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov took the floor, clarifying that the purpose of the training was to check the readiness of military command and control bodies and the practical skills of operational personnel, as well as to work out the procedure for authorizing and using nuclear weapons.
After listening to them, the Russian president stressed that the exercises were planned.
"Today we have a planned, I want to emphasize this, planned training on the management of nuclear forces, as the Minister of Defense has just reported," Vladimir Putin said.
All the tasks have been completed, the Kremlin summed up.
Expert opinion
Alexey Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru" suggested that the training was intended to remind European leaders of Russia's nuclear weapons. He linked the exercises to recent statements by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
"Our European partners, who have been confusing the shores too often lately, just need to be reminded periodically who they are dealing with. And then the Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski suddenly announced that he was going to shoot down the plane on which our president was flying to Budapest - did he understand exactly what he was saying? Does he know that Russia is a nuclear power, and he won't get away with even such assumptions? There are too many such crazy people in Europe, and the entire global security structure is suffering from this," the MP believes.
According to Zhuravlev, the "stupid statements" of European leaders are pushing the planet towards disaster.
"In order to cool down the heated Russophobes, it is sometimes necessary, in a planned manner, to demonstrate what the Russian army is capable of, what weapons it possesses and how far it flies," Zhuravlev said.
Today, the Honored Military pilot of the Russian Federation, Major General Vladimir Popov, in an interview with NEWS.ru He talked about Russia's capabilities to destroy the military-industrial complex of Ukraine. According to him, it will be possible to completely destroy the military-industrial complex of Ukraine only with nuclear weapons.
Popov expressed the opinion that using conventional weapons it will not be possible to completely disarm the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since weapons are constantly being supplied to Ukraine from abroad. Regarding the total volume of weapons used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he estimated it at 25-30%. Popov stressed that the position of Western countries on this issue has changed many times and generally depends on the mood prevailing in the White House.
"A new administration has arrived today, and the ardor of some NATO countries has cooled a little. This is all going to change," the general said.
