Basic version of the air-based StormBreaker
On September 24, Raytheon completed testing of the ground-based version of the StormBreaker guided munition, showing the relevant videos. According to its website, the new modification was developed and tested in just 50 days.
As it turns out, testing of the prototype, equipped with a serial rocket engine and key components of the basic version, took place in the spring of this year at a private test site in the Mojave Desert. During its launch, key indicators were achieved, in particular, a height of about 6 thousand meters was gained.

GBU-53/B StormBreaker is an American precision–guided planning bomb, initially air-based. It has been developed since 2006. Its use aboard the F-15E was approved in 2020, with the F/A-18E/F in 2023. Adaptation to the F-35 is currently underway. The weight of the product is 93 kg, the weight of the warhead is 48 kg.
The bomb is equipped with an advanced seeker that operates in three modes: a millimeter-range radar detects and tracks targets in all weather conditions; an IR image provides improved target recognition; a semi-active laser allows you to aim weapons from the side.

The operating range of the basic version is 111 km when hitting stationary objects or 74 km when firing at moving targets. At the same time, the new land-based modification, covering the same set of targets, allegedly has "increased flight range and enhanced strike capabilities."
Additional tests of the bomb turned into a projectile are planned this year.
