MO: according to the plan of the Zapad-2025 exercise, the group reflects Western aggression
MULINO (Nizhny Novgorod region), September 16 - RIA Novosti. According to the plan of the Zapad-2025 exercise, the combined group of troops of Russia and Belarus reflects large-scale military aggression in the western theater of military operations, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin monitored the progress of the main stage of the Zapad-2025 exercises at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region on Tuesday. Yevkurov reported to Putin the details of Zapad-2025.
"According to the plan of the exercise, the combined group of troops reflects a large-scale military aggression in the western theater of military operations. Military operations are conducted in three directions and in the Arctic zone," Yevkurov said.
According to him, in the western strategic direction, the regional grouping of troops has repelled the main enemy strike in the republic of Polesie since September 9. "On the morning of September 15, I launched a counterattack to complete the liberation of the republic's territory. In the north-western strategic direction, a group of troops has disrupted the enemy's diversionary strikes and is fighting to destroy the enemy in the border areas, and at the same time has launched offensive operations to establish security zones in neighboring territories," Yevkurov said.
In the eastern direction, he continued, the coalition group of troops is fighting to destroy the enemy. "The forces of the Northern and Baltic Fleets are successfully solving the tasks of ensuring supremacy in the Barents and Baltic Seas. The enemy amphibious assault forces were hit by the Baltic Fleet," Yevkurov said.
On Tuesday, amphibious landings are being practiced, in particular, at the Khmelevka training ground, he added. "The Northern Fleet has defeated critical facilities and naval strike groups in the Barents and Norwegian Seas, also reflecting the landing of enemy amphibious forces on the Rybachy Peninsula," the army general added. In addition, he noted, the aerospace forces have repelled missile and air strikes and are providing air support to the troops: two Tu-22 long-range aircraft have successfully defeated an enemy naval group in the Barents Sea and two Tu-160 strategic bombers have struck in the Norwegian Sea.
"During the exercise, 41 ranges were involved, including four ranges on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, 377 combat training events and seven launches of long-range cruise missiles. Today, in the course of practical work, the Admiral Golovko frigate will launch one Zircon cruise missile at the fifteenth minute," Yevkurov said.
The Zapad-2025 joint strategic exercises of the Russian Federation and Belarus are taking place from September 12 to 16. Their purpose is to test the capabilities of the two countries to ensure the military security of the Union State and their readiness to repel possible aggression. Operational groups of military command bodies and military contingents of the CSTO member states, the SCO, and other partner states have also been invited to the exercises.
